Brussels, September 2024
The European Renewable Gas Registry (ERGaR) will update its IT system that facilitates the cross-border trade of renewable gas certificates between its system participants. The new IT system will introduce more functionalities and further automation to better serve the renewable gas certification market. The system will be developed by the Austrian service provider CISMO and is expected to be fully operational by 18 September 2024.
To minimise disruptions and confusion, it has been decided that the current IT system will not accept new transfers from 15 September onwards. Transfers that have already been initiated by 15 September can still be completed. The new IT system will accept new transfers from 18 September.
While we are working hard to minimise disruptions as much as possible, transfer times for producers, traders, and end-users exporting or importing biomethane certificates may be slightly longer during the transition period after 15 September. If the transfer is urgent, it is recommended to initiate the transfer before 15 September. For details on the transactions for a specific registry, please consult the communication from the responsible registry.
