In recent years, the effects of climate change have prompted businesses and governments worldwide to collaborate on finding solutions to reduce emissions and transition to more sustainable practices.
A key component in this effort is the use of renewable energy sources, such as renewable gases (biomethane & hydrogen) and renewable electricity (wind & solar). One challenge that has emerged is distinguishing energy produced from fossil fuels from that generated by renewable sources. The solution to this is the use of certificates that track the journey of green energy from producer to consumer.
Renewable Gas Certificates have become an essential tool in the fight against climate change, helping organizations around the world demonstrate their commitment to reducing emissions. However, awareness about these certificates remains limited, creating a need for initiatives to better inform companies and organizations about their importance and practicalities.
The European Renewable Gas Registry (ERGaR), the key European association facilitating cross-border trade in renewable gas certificates, is addressing this gap by launching a campaign to raise awareness about the role of these certificates. This campaign aims to reach those looking for ways to decarbonize but who may lack access to the necessary information.
As part of this effort, ERGaR has introduced a new informational website (renewablegascertificates.org) and will be running a paid campaign on LinkedIn to increase visibility. Additionally, a free webinar will be hosted in the coming weeks to provide a comprehensive introduction to renewable gas certificates.
