The first European Biomethane Trading Conference, held in Amsterdam, brought together more than 160 professionals from across the biomethane value chain for a full day of insight, collaboration, and discussion.
Designed as a focused, one-day event, the conference featured four main sessions and approximately 17 expert speakers. Attendees heard from a diverse range of voices, including representatives from the European Commission, industry leaders, and sustainability specialists, all sharing perspectives on the rapidly evolving biomethane market.
A key highlight of the programme was a panel discussion on the role of biomethane in industrial applications. Experts from major companies such as Tata Steel and Mars explored sourcing strategies and shared real-world examples of how biomethane is being integrated into operations.
Additional sessions provided updates on EU policy developments, including the implementation of RED III and evolving national legislation. Discussions also addressed certification frameworks and the increasing importance of cross-border trade in supporting market growth.
The agenda extended into emerging areas shaping the sector’s future, including developments related to the GHG Protocol, the rise of voluntary markets, and the growing use of bio-LNG in industries such as maritime transport. These topics highlighted the expanding role of biomethane across new sectors and applications.
Combining presentations, panel debates, and interactive Q&A sessions, the conference delivered both strategic insights and practical takeaways. Strong engagement throughout the day underscored the increasing significance of biomethane in Europe’s energy transition and established a solid foundation for future editions of the event.
