On 3-4 September, ERGaR met with key Austrian stakeholders for a very successful discussion on ERGaR’s work and, importantly, to strengthen the collaboration and exchange between Austrian market participants. Along with this, the ERGaR Board members and the ERGaR Secretariat convened for two-day workshop focused on the future direction of the association and the continued development of renewable gas certification in Europe.
The first day centred on ERGaR’s strategy, mission and vision. Board members discussed the association’s advocacy priorities, membership activities and how ERGaR can continue to strengthen its role and visibility as the renewable gas market develops.
The second day focused on the future of the ERGaR Certificate of Origin (CoO) Scheme. Discussions explored how certification systems and market infrastructure could evolve to support a more harmonised, interoperable and practical European renewable gas market.
With the sector changing rapidly, the workshop provided an important opportunity to exchange ideas, align priorities and consider the role ERGaR can play in supporting a trusted and well-functioning European market for renewable gas certificates.
We thank all Board members who contributed to the discussions, as well as our hosts in Vienna for providing an excellent setting for two productive days.
Participants included representatives from AGCS Gas Clearing and Settlement AG, CISMO Clearing Integrated Services and Market Operations GmbH, Energinet, the German Energy Agency (dena), gazenergie, bmp greengas GmbH, Green Gas Certification Scheme and Danish Bio Commodities.
The discussions will now feed into the next steps for both ERGaR and the continued development of the CoO Scheme.
