Brussels, July 2025
ERGaR is excited to share the Statistical Report for 2024, which provides a clear overview of the main developments in the European biomethane market.
The report shows that almost 3 TWh of biomethane was transferred via the ERGaR Certificates of Origin (CoO) scheme in 2024. In total more than 7 TWh of biomethane certificates were transferred across borders through ERGaR’s scheme by mid-2025 since the beginning of the scheme. A large share of these transfers were directed to Germany, with Denmark, the UK and the Netherlands as the main exporting countries.
This edition also includes expert insights from Argus Media, covering price trends and policy changes. Moreover, it includes data such as number of certificates issued from the national biomethane registries connected to ERGaR (Amber Grid (LT), AGCS (AT), dena (DE), Energinet (DK), GNI (IE), GGCS (UK), SPP Distribucia (SK), VertiCer (NL)).
The full report is available exclusively to ERGaR members. Please contact us at info@ergar.org to request the report or learn more about ERGaR membership.
